Throwing this out there for James... (Crime) James,
On your world map it still lists “crime rate” on all the areas of the world. Are you ever going to open up this aspect of your game? Because having it there implies there would be crime in a world ruled by poker. My suggestion has been crime chips where the person using them takes a risk of losing morale and/or chips if their crime fails.
In addition, people could be targeted and have to use crime chips or some kind of combat system involving poker hands to defend themselves and their pads. If they are off-line, a bot fights for them. Each player lays down 5 cards and the best poker hand wins. each player gets 52 cards to use per day. Once a card is used, it is gone for the day.
Have a Merry Christmas and congrats again on finishing school. I think role playing and poker were two ideas born to be married. This site has nothing but upside to it. Good luck in 2012!
With the results of this poll in mind I have put up a new poll about crime: http://pokerrpg.com/forum/topic/4742

The idea of a job (crime) token that poses some measure of risk is interesting, but your combat cards idea is confusing. It sounds like a card game that would require strategy, but there seems to be no good reason to base it on combat or attacking. Also if there is strategy involved and I'm not online I would not be happy if a bot loses my chips, nor would I be satisfied if a bot won me chips from a challenger that decided to ambush me. If I am using five cards from a deck of 52 to play against another players five cards then it sort of sounds like stud poker . . . so in that light it is an excellent idea and I would support it fully, and hope to see you on the tables.
Additionally, it's worth noting that the more side games there are the less actual poker is played. RPG and poker are a good match but balance is required. Keep at it.

Good points. Perhaps crime could be tied to encouraging players to play in games. When you are at a table you are immune to attacks or something. Or perhaps you can use cards in your current hand at the table for defending and attacking.
All I know is combat brings players in. More people online for crimes means a bigger pool of players. And James obviously planned to have it in his game at some point. He should either delete it or run with it. Right now it just makes the site look like it has holes and unfinished work on it.

James introduced a lock box a while back that protected certain items and people threw huge fit about it, but I kinda like the idea. I do know that you should be able to protect your pad by buying protection for X amount of time and such. Definitely would be a neat addition and twist.

sapphy, James would not set it up to allow exclusive items to be “stolen” That would be a huge slap in the face, but that doesn't mean he can't make bears, classics, tanning beds and such available for such actions. Certain items in the games should be deemed untouchable due the the irreplaceable value of them. Or perhaps if they were touched there would be recovery fees, but I don't that that would work that well either.

I don't want any of it. My missions 7 items x 15 are enough with the bears/lambos/tannings without theft as a part of the game. I am from a nice area and sorry our crime rate is petty I guess compared to some places. Sides if he wants to do that then we should have guard dogs, guns etc.

Perhaps it would be easier if James just created a new crime game that incorporates back room poker games.

Bad idea, players work hard to gain chips and items so it could put players off staying here and playing if they lose some of their stuff due to a random event.

I know that is why I am making fun of it.. It should have to involve poker for it and choose that option when you set a table and the item that you lose can only be like a car or pool table in those areas not a cyl or bear etc.

Well I got the pulse of the community I was looking for. Thanks all for answering and voting.
This game has had “crime rate” listed on it since I got here. Many players left this game for one with poker and crime in it. I just would like to see James either let us know what he had planned or to get rid of it. Like I said, right now it just makes the place look like it has loose ends and holes in it.
I am a combat guy. I like beating people up on video games. I know 100% that a combat aspect to this game would stir up interest in it. Unfortunately the majority of players remaining in this game fear combat and like Pokemon-style poker more than actual role playing.
