GoldFire Network now more secure

This is not something that any of you will really notice right now unless you go to goldfire.me, but the GoldFire Network now forces the use of encrypted connections using SSL/HTTPS. This means that all data transferred from the GoldFire toolbar along the bottom of the screen is encrypted and secured. This is just the first step, we'll be working to implement other added security/privacy features in the near future.

New Server

We had a brief 30 minute downtime early this morning to move to a shiny new server! This new server has a Solid State Drive (SSD), which means it is able to read/write data much faster than a server with a normal hard drive. This should result in better and more consistent performance across the site. However, there is still the need for some tuning over the next few days, so you should see improvements as the server settings get tweaked to match the new environment.

PokerRPG Turns 7!

Wow, that was fast! Seven (yes, you read that right) years ago today, PokerRPG was unleashed onto the world. A lot has changed in seven years, but one thing has remained a constant. PokerRPG has always had an incredible community, and I'm honred to have been a part of it for so long.

To celebrate this event, we have two new limited edition items available. One is a new Super Exclusive, and the the arcade machine can be had with each purchase of 100+ Gold through June 17 @ 11:59 PM.

Tables Updates

A bunch of server updates have been added to poker to help fix some of the bugs that have been happening. These updates will also help with speed and stability. I've also added some compatibility improvements that should fix issues on Opera and Internet Explorer 10 (if it still isn't work, try clearing your cache).

GoldFire Network Update

Several bugs have been fixed with the GoldFire Network and the toolbar, including some issues with notifications not showing. There have also been several speed improvements and optimizations worked in across the system.

PokerRPG vs. Zombies

OMGz! An outbreak has spread across the Moon, turning all citizens into ZOMBIES! They have strapped a rocket to the dark side of the moon, and flown it straight into the world of PokerRPG! The point of impact has occurred at Mount Firemouth, and zombies are swarming the world.



Only one hope remains against the zombie apocalypse (and even if we accomplish it, there, is still the issue with the world getting destroyed by the moon…) - FULL OUT POKER WAR! Your job is to take up poker arms against our invaders and not surrender a single hand. This is their only weakness, but zombies probably have the best poker face you've ever seen, so it won't be an easy task. Onward into poker battle!

Easter Hunt 2013

Episode #9: Ride the Wave

His Roayl Flush, Henry the Straight, was successful in the final hour of stemming the tide from sweeping Polantis off the cliff…at least for now. However, tumultuous times are still ahead of us, and we must ride atop the wave of uncertainty and hope to come out on top, for the sake of all poker-kind. There's no telling what the market will look like a year from now, much less in a week. Play the odds and watch the stocks at a chance to prevent another Polantis Cliff event.

Forum Updates

Thanks for all of the great feedback on the new forums. I've just pushed a big update with several new features, bug fixes, and improvements.

- The Post Spy is back and better than ever!
- Your manage subscriptions page is now back as well
- Search results have been improved
- The page navigation is now on the top and bottom of thread pages
- Emoticons will no longer show a gray outline around them (only from now on)
- Hide the reply box when not logged in
- Fixed the emoticon icon on the edit signature toolbar

New Table Items

At long last, the new table items are here and ready to have fun with at the tables! There are a total of 8 new items that you can purchase for yourself or others by clicking on your or their poker face at a table. The new items include: Beer, Donkey, Fishing, Flatline, Piggy, Rose, Shark, and Wambulance.

New Forums

The forums have received a long overdue facelift and are now hosted on the GoldFire Network to help make everything more streamlined. Clicking the "Forums" navigation button will now take you to the new forums. All posts from the old forums have been merged into the new forums (though there might be some formatting differences). Some of the highlights include:

- No more BBCODE! We now have a rich text editor that allows you to see exactly what your post will look like as you edit it, as well as more embedding and formatting options.
- Clean, consistent interface that is easier to read and navigate.
- Lots of other small tweaks that make the overall experience much nicer and more like a "professional" forum.

Please note that signatures are still being merged into the new system and that the formatting of your signature may break, but you can update your signature from your "Edit Settings" page from your GoldFire Network profile.

Elahet Memorial Item

As I'm sure most of you are now aware, we lost a special member of our community earlier this week - elahet. We were very saddened by this news and wanted to do something to help preserve her memory with the PokerRPG community, so with Soosan's help, we have created a special memorial item that can be found on the Use Gold page. Only 100 will be available for 50 gold each.

I have also been informed that a memorial charity drive is underway, and if you would like to donate to that you may do so here. Elahet has been a long-time member of this community and she will be missed, but never forgotten.
