6 New Achievements
Tuesday, August 7. 2012

6 new achievements have been added for the community challenges. There are 3 each available for the community goal and the individual goal. The past community challenges will not be counted towards these because the history of those wasn't recorded, so these are starting with the current challenge.

Liar's Dice
Tuesday, August 7. 2012

The programming is now complete for the upgraded Liar's Dice. It is built into the new system to get the same speed advantages as the new poker and blackjack tables. The game itself is virtually the same with minor visual tweaks and of course the improved hardware acceleration for animations. You can start creating Liar's Dice tables again from the "Create Table" window starting now.

Tables v6.0 Released
Monday, July 30. 2012

Thank you to everyone who helped beta test the new release, I am confident that this is our best and most bug-free release in the history of the site! It has been a long wait for the launch of the new version, but I think you will find it was worth the wait. Below is an overview of the new features and changes in the new tables. Please note that Liar's Dice is not included in this release, but it will be coming back in the next week or two.

  • Completely reprogrammed everything from the ground up to take advantage of new web technologies.

  • Greatly improved speed and stability.

  • Better support for slower connections and international players.

  • Fixed many freezing and crashing issues.

  • Better mobile support.

  • Reverse chat direction to the standard of having new items at the bottom.

  • Click on player avatar images to get options and stats.

  • Added player notes to tables.

  • Integrated table item purchases into the table (no popup now).

  • Improved new table setup process.

  • Improved table pre-loading system.

  • Hardware accelerated animations.

  • Improved loading times and accuracy of images and cards

  • Improved shuffling algorithm

  • Improved mucking procedures

  • Ability to rebuy anytime during hand, and chips get added at the start of the next hand

  • Chat bubble animates over players that are typing, so you can see who is currently typing.

  • Smilies in table chat.

  • Fixed dead button rules.

  • Persist table settings (volume, etc) for browser session.

  • Future-proofed Main Tournaments to be able to handle more than 2 tables.

  • Improved info box data update speed.

  • Volume slider instead of 4 level buttons.

  • If a hand ends without a showdown, the next hand will start faster.

  • Every player that signed up for a MT is now sat automatically when the tournament starts so that their chips are in the tournament. This also means if you miss the start of the MT for some reason, you can still get into it by just going to the table.

  • Several small tweaks to the interface.

  • Completely removed Adobe Flash dependency (even for sounds).

  • Increased max server capacity from 100 consecutive players to 10,000+.

  • Fixed issue with options, cards, etc flashing at random times.

  • Improved formatting of dealer actions log.

  • Many other bug fixes and improvements!

Captain Archibald has concocted a plan to manipulate the lottery and scratch off jackpots in order to buy more ships. It is up to you to run his plans by lowering his odds and buying up all of the lottery tickets and scratching all of the scratch offs you can get your hands on. Tables v6.0 Public Beta
Saturday, July 14. 2012

As you probably know, v6.0 of the tables have been under development for quite some time now. Instead of just an iterative update like most of the past updates, I decided that a total rewrite was necessary to get the most out of today's technologies. So, I used the new technologies and techniques from the GoldFire Network to reprogram the tables from the ground up, allowing for over 50% less code and much improved speed.

I combined amazing feedback from everyone with some cool new browser technologies to bring truly platform independent poker tables to PokerRPG. Some highlights of the changes are listed below, but the big thing here is that the speed is virtually real-time, and the server won't even break a sweat. However, with any new codebase, bugs can never be completely avoided, so I need your help to test out the tables before they replace the current ones.

I've setup a beta test cash game that does not affect your chips, experience, etc, so you won't have to worry about any bugs affecting your account. Tournaments aren't quite ready, but a few beta tournaments will be setup later next week. Anyone who finds a bug and is first to e-mail it to bugs@pokerrpg.com will get the beta achievement (and if you already have the achievement, please still send in any bugs).

New Feature Highlights:

  • Greatly improved speed and stability

  • Volume slider

  • Player actions & info menu by clicking on poker face (avatar)

  • Improved table pre-loading system

  • Hardware accelerated animations

  • Improved loading times and accuracy of images and cards

  • Improved shuffling algorithm

  • Improved mucking procedures

  • Ability to rebuy anytime during hand, and chips get added at the start of the next hand

  • Chat bubble animates over players that are typing

  • Smilies in chat

  • Much more!

Remember, this is beta software, so things could get added or removed before the final release. Also, the beta table is running on a development server, which means it will be quite a bit slower than the tables will be on launch.

Quick Update
Tuesday, June 19. 2012

I know I haven't posted much on here lately, but that doesn't mean work hasn't been happening. I've been hard at work at the development of the 6th version of the tables, and they are coming along great. A basic playable version of poker is being internally tested and many of the requested new features will be added in throughout this week. I hope to start doing some limited testing within the next week or two.

Also, just to be clear, the look of the tables won't be much different, but everything working behind the scenes is being rewritten from the ground up using the same technologies that were used to build the GoldFire Network (real-time chat, notifications, etc). This will address a lot of the nagging bugs and annoyances of the current tables, and will also allow for some cool new features that weren't possible before.

Oh and also, GoldFire Studios has a new home, which will really help with focus and accelerating progress!

Best Pad Contest Voting
Tuesday, May 22. 2012

Thank you to everyone who entered the Best Pad Contest! There were a lot of great entries, and it was very hard to narrow down the finalists. So hard in fact, that I decided to have 10 finalists for the "Most Creative Floor" category. In addition, since only 4 entries were received for "Most Creative Garage," the 3rd place prize for that category has been moved to "Most Creative Floor" as the 4th place price.

Voting is now open and will end at the end a week from today (Tuesday, May 29).

New Notification System
Friday, April 20. 2012

As I mentioned with the launch of the GoldFire Network, the game notifications would eventually be fully moved onto the network in a central location. Before you could see the count next to "Games" in the bottom left, but it wasn't synced very reliably with your actual notifications. I now have the full notification system complete and it can be used starting today.

You can now access all of your notices from the bottom left of your screen on any page (PokerRPG, BC Wars, goldfire.me). You can easily view the latest 10 notices (in an improved format over the current system) and go to a "View All" page to see your notifications from the last 90 days. This notification count in the bottom left will update in real-time as events happen on your account.

However, if you wish to continue using the old notification system for the time being, it is still available for now (you will have access to both notification systems). You can opt to switch 100% to the new system at any time by clicking here.
